The 2016, movie season is shaping up to be a fight at the box office. The gloves have come off and the movie studios are play for keeps. Since ‘Star Wars’ has managed to take in over a billion dollars in less than a month other movie studios and production companies are looking to do the same. We put together a list of the top 5 movies that will give ‘Star Wars’ a run for its money at the box office.
1. X-Men: Apocalypse
This American superhero film is based on the X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Over the last decade Marvel Comics has released several installments in the X-Men series as blockbuster movies. These movies have gone on to make billions worldwide.
The current installments slated to be released in 2016, will be directed by Bryan Singer with a screenplay by Simon Kinberg from a story conceived by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Dennis.
Deadpool is an upcoming American superhero film based on the eponymous Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is intended to be the eighth installment in the X-Men film series. The film is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
Deadpool is scheduled for release on February 12, 2016, in North America.

This American science fiction film directed by Roland Emmerich, and written by Emmerich, Dean Devlin and Carter Blanchard. It is the sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day. The film stars Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner, reprising their original roles, along with newcomers Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Angelababy, Joey King, Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Fichtner.
The film is scheduled for a June 24, 2016 release. Filming began on April 20, 2015 and ended on August 22, 2015.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an upcoming American superhero film featuring the DC Comics characters Batman and Superman, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is intended to be the follow-up to 2013’s Man of Steel and the second installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, with a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.

Warcraft (to be released internationally as Warcraft: The Beginning) is an upcoming 2016 American epic fantasy film directed by Duncan Jones and written by Chris Metzen. It is based on the Warcraft video game series and novels set in the world of Azeroth.
The film is set to be released by Universal Pictures on June 10, 2016.
